Generalist Paralegal

Job Description: A generalist paralegal is a legal professional who works under the supervision of a lawyer and performs tasks such as assisting the lawyers in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings in general, drafting of legal documents, and office tasks and general services for a high-quality, resultsoriented, and case focused law office administration.

Qualifications:

  1. Must be a graduate of a 4-year course preferably legal management, political science, and the like;
  2. Outstanding research and communication skills;
  3. Strong problem-solving ability.

Terms of Reference:

  1. Conduct legal research and gathering of relevant information (i.e., assist the lawyer in interviews with the client) to the case;
  2. Assist the attorney in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings in general;
  3. Draft simple legal documents;
  4. Accept clients requiring notarial services that are not pro forma, review pro forma documents, ensure proper and complete recording of notarial information, and together with administration associate, prepare/review notarial reports;
  5. Collect immigration applications, labor law compliance, business permits compliance, and other work with government agencies for retained corporate clients/SMEs and in preparing for quasi-judicial proceedings. Act as assistant corporate secretary for corporate clients and alternate representative to health/safety taskforce, when requested by clients;
  6. Responsible for the case management system and other office tasks such as filing papers, making case folders, answering telephone calls, and maintaining and organizing reference files and information through the Case Folder Management System;
  7. In charge of maintaining the schedule of the attorney, and spend some time of each day calling clients, witnesses, experts and court personnel to schedule interviews, hearings, meetings, depositions, and trials. He may also handle any needed travel arrangements;
  8. Other tasks deemed necessary by the Executive Director.
